I was born and grew up in a Hindu-Christian family. My parents converted to Christianity from a high caste Hindu background. My father, the late Rev. Dr. Pooranchand, gave me a choice after spending much time in teaching the Bible as well as the Hindu religion to decide if I would be Christian or Hindu. In India, we have to write what religion we belong to in our legal documents......
In a Christ in Our Home devotion I liked the statement that “Knowing first what God wants for us, along with a willingness to obey, puts us in sync with the Creator.” That is something I strive for. I love the Psalm “Lead Me Lord, Lead me in your righteousness. Make your way known”. I also like a song that says “The time to be Happy is Now, The place to be happy is here, the way to be happy is to make others happy and we’ll have a little heaven down here.”
When God takes control of my life and His Holy Spirit lives inside of me, I feel called to be His servant. God has opened the door for me to serve Him through the Lao Worshipping Community. It all began in January 1998 when my pastor asked me to help with the youth Sunday school. Then in February 2005, I learned how to play the keyboard and began helping with the music in worship....
